Kids at Boulderlab

At Boulder Lab, our climbing is limited in age to climbers 12 years and older.
There is one exception to this, being Kinder Lab at our Clayton facility, which is aimed to introduce bouldering to young climbers.

In order to minimize the risk of injury we have parent-climber supervision ratios that must be adhered to.

Ages 5-12 - (Clayton Kinder Lab only). Parents must remain in Kinder Lab at all times whilst their child is climbing, and additionally, the following supervision ratios apply.

  • 5 and 6 years old, we require 1-1 supervision by a parent/guardian and they have to be within arms reach whilst climbing

  • 7-9 years old, 1:2 ratio of parent supervision to climbers

  • 10-12 years old, 1:4 ratio of parent supervision to climbers

Climbers 12-13, can climb anywhere in our facilities, however the 1:4 supervision requirements are still required, however, the supervising parent cannot climb whilst any of the young climbers are on the wall.

Climbers aged 14+ are able to climb at Boulder Lab without adult supervision granted they are behaving appropriately and following all rules and safety guidelines.

If your child is loving bouldering and wants to progress further, Boulder Lab also offers multiple youth programs from developing athletes right through to support for athletes climbing at the World cup level. For more information on our youth programs click here

Boulder Lab reserves the right to require supervision of any youth climbers who prove incapable of responsible behavior.

Boulder Lab reserves the right to ask customers to leave, if they fail to abide by our Kids policy.
