Rock Academy Social Series

This is a 5 week social series in the lead up to Black Diamond Lab Masters 2025.

Each weeks sets will have a theme - think Back to School (of Rocks).

  • Week 1: OLD SCHOOL (no explanation needed)

  • Week 2: READING WEEK (beta intensive)

  • Week 3: PE (physical boulders)

  • Week 4: PALAEONTOLOGY (dyno-saurs)

  • Week 5: DANCE CLASS (put that footwork to the test)

Taking place across all 3 facilities, this series will get you ready to perform your best at Lab Masters (or just have fun!)

Categories:

  • Novice Female - V1-V3

  • Novice Male - V1-V4

  • Intermediate Female - V4-V6

  • Intermediate Male - V5 - V7

  • Open Female - V7+

  • Open Male - V8+

  • Non-Binary - Our competitive Non-Binary/gender inclusive category

  • Social - All genders and grade ranges welcome, our social category is designed for you to get involved and have fun without the stress of being competitive

Scoring:

  • Each boulder is worth a certain number of points depending on the difficulty

  • The more hard boulders you send, the higher your score

  • You get more points for a flash

  • All climbs are self-logged in Top Logger under ‘Social Series’

  • Please do NOT log them under each individual gym as you would usually, as these will not count towards the competition

Competition Rules:

  • This is a self-scored competition

  • Anyone caught not being honest in their scoring will be disqualified

  • These are all competition boulders: so don’t forget your 4 point starts and a controlled, or 3 second hold at the top

  • Once the week is over you can no longer log your boulders

  • The boulders will be changed from competition boulders to regular boulders (with their grade reflected by the tag) and this is the indicator that they are no longer an active part of the social series

  • Grand prizes provided by Tenzing, Madrock and Boulder Lab.

  • Spot prizes for each week, and all competitors have a chance to win one of three free entries into Black Diamond Lab Masters on October 18
